The Plex team have officially released an application for PS3 and PS4 owners, before PS4 owners could use Plex via their web browser, but all that can be done away with now as it has its own application.
Currently the app is only available on the EU PS Stores, it needs a PSN account to use it and is not yet on the PS Vita or Vita TV, here is some information about it:
Why isn’t the app available everywhere?
Sony has multiple business units that cover different regions. These business units operate separately as far as their PlayStation stores, app submissions, approvals, processes, and other matters are concerned.
What this means is that in order for an application such as Plex for PlayStation to be made available in particular stores, we have to go through the process separately for the different Sony business units and that means steps don’t always occur or complete simultaneously.
So, when will it be available in [My Country]?
We’re working with Sony to make the Plex for PlayStation app available as widely as possible. We know you love your PlayStation consoles and we want you to be able to run Plex on them, regardless of where you live in the world!
While we don’t have any specifics to share about future PlayStation Store support or when new stores might be supported, rest assured that we’re working hard to make the app available to everyone we can.
Okay, well where is it available currently?
The Plex for PlayStation app is currently available in the following PlayStation Stores:
- Czech Republic
- New Zealand
- Saudi Arabia
- South Africa
- United Arab Emirates
- United Kingdom
