    PlayStationHaX Podcast

Forums are a somewhat of a niche market, they are not used nor utilized in the same manner that they were ten years ago, i miss the days were forums were filled with intelligent people helping the less educated, i miss members filling forums full of tutorials and help guides, don't get me wrong, it still happens, just not to the same extent that it once did and finally i miss the days when people used to come on a forum and tell me to kill myself or express how they would like to have sexual relations with my mother, there just isn't the heart in forums that once existed, that does not mean i wish to get rid of this forum, it simply means that i must evolve a little and this is why i am introducing podcasts Podcasts are simple audio speeches or presentations that you can listen to via Spreaker where i will be uploading them or download them from there and play them on your phones audio player, you probably wonder why i chose to do Podcast's and not videos, well that is simple, videos require you to look at them, one is tempted to even stare at the screen whilst they are listening something on the screen, listening to a Podcast does not tempt you to look at your screen and you can listen to it on your way to work or when you are out for your evening jog, you can listen to it in bed or the bath, on top of that YouTube is over done and saturated with videos involving the scene and games consoles, scene Podcasts are not something i have really seen done, apart from when the much loved and hated scener Braken did it a long time ago. I plan to do these Podcasts each week and i might even venture into scenes outside the PlayStation scene, i will try to record it on a Saturday so that it is available on Sunday, it will discuss the news and releases that happened throughout the week: Please feel free to leave suggestions or tell me how much it sucks

    Happy Birthday PS3

Twelve whole years ago today the PS3 was released in Japan, that was at least two years before members of the forum such as @DarkElementPL were born, The PS3 does not have the same amount of love from Sony as it did all those years ago, but the scene gives it the love it deserves, you can see such instances in places like PSX-Place, Reddit and of course here at PlayStationHaX. I haven't updated the website in about two years, but that doesn't mean what already is there is not a good read, as it is probably one of the best console histories you will ever read and i will update it when i have time, you can read all about the PS3's life below: PS3History

    Release: BwE PS4 NOR Statistics

Hello! Following my this program BwE PS4 NOR Statistics v1.00, another micro version of my PS4 NOR Validator, is designed solely to validate your NOR based on statistics only from Better Way Electronics! Why make this you ask? Entropy and statistics are a well used methodology in the malware analysis field to determine if a binary file is encrypted, and by how much. What is entropy? Entropy is a method for measuring uncertainty in a series of numbers or bytes. In technical terms, entropy measures the level of difficulty or the probability of independently predicting each number in the series. What has this got to do with PS4s? Well the PS4's NOR is almost entirely encrypted and so with a collection of known valid NOR's it is possible to determine the level of entropy that represents a valid NOR and what level of entropy would represent a corrupt NOR. When corruption occurs it will generally wipe out a large chuck of the NOR, cause the NOR to repeat itself or will fill the NOR with junk. All of this will decrease or severely increase the entropy. Seeing as the PS4 firmware is likely to add more or less complexity with each update I have made available a settings file where you can adjust the predicted statistics. Download: BwE_PS4_NOR_Statistics.rar (5.4 MB) Have fun! And yes this is made specifically for other PS4 repairers like myself. Maybe it will be useful for something else one day. Remember the fun we had with the PS3 NOR? NOTE: My program is designed for Windows 64 - If this is a problem then you're computing wrong. Release Date: 5/11/18 Version: 1.0 MD5: BDABAAB45995A3D1E7AE83541E752721 Chiptune: Dubmood - A Tribute to Kootie Loader Art: BwE (Credits to Maniac (Netflix)) This is what a valid NOR looks like: This is what an invalid NOR looks like: Sorry for the copypasta! Enjoy either way!

First i want to state that i have zero problem with people selling hacked consoles on eBay, i think that we should be able to sell modded consoles and chipped consoles on eBay or wherever, what i am against is people selling hacked consoles at an inflated price, just because they have a bunch of pirated games included, this causes harm to the scene as can been seen in the case that Sony recently took against a guy from California Blackcloak13 who's real name is Eric David Scales has been taken to court by Sony Interactive Entertainment(SIE), for selling a 'Jailbroken' PS4 loaded with 60+ games for $499, an agent of SIE bought the console in April 2018 found that the harddrive was filled with 60+ pirated games, SIE then bought another PS4 from Blackcloak13 in June 2018, this console was on firmware 5.05 and also had a bunch of pirated games, here is a few quotes from the legal document: You can download the PDF and read more at the source: Sony Sues ‘Jailbroken’ PS4 Seller for Copyright Infringement Thanks Roxanne for the tip, wish you were a member of the forum so i could mention you.

I also thought I'd release the severely outdated PS3 NAND validator source. It's messy and unprofessional, but hey it worked and it was made in 2012/2013. Feel free to update it. Don't trust my PS4 NOR Validator? Have a whole bunch of dumps from the various consoles you have been repairing/collecting? Well now is your chance to shine! I present to you the BwE PS4 NOR Comparator! Now you can gather vital information from all of your dumps at once and compare them all by yourself! Be sure to use Notepad++ as the outputs can be large enough to crash your normal text editor. Oh and a multi-cored PC would help. I think at this point I am finding excuses to release stuff... On the 11th of December 2018, @zecoxao announced via his Twitter account that there would be a secret method revealed soon, he said multiple times that it was only good for games and that it was basically pointless as it would be patched soon after release. So yesterday, the 29th of December 2018, zecoxao revealed the method on YouTube and opened the gates to an unprecedented amount of teenage boys and grown men crying at him, because this method did not give them the piracy the way they wanted, the amount of attacks and articles zecoxao has received is insane, considering this method isn't his and he was just the messenger, Reddit seems to be the place for attacking him the cowardly way, anyhow here is a video of the secret method: @rmorteza21 next time do me a favour and turn the phone around so that you record horizontally https://twitter.com/notzecoxao/status/1079003064743251968

A few days ago, I wanted to play some Openbor games on PS4. I did not find so many around and I decided to make a port via iso PS2. Many have been fixed by me to make them work and I decided to share them with you. I do not think I'm going against piracy, they're simple mods of amateur games.

TOXXIC407 has released a front end for @flatz remote PKG installer: All the downloads are stored on TOXXIC407's server so you do not have to set up your own server, using the front end does seem fast enough, i tried it on my Android Tablet and PC, however i did find that some downloads failed, perhaps hosting them oneself locally might eliminate problems. How It Works? You run @zecoxao 1.8 HEN You Run flatz remote PKG Installer You visit http://tgi-12-2.de/ Enter your PS4's IP address Click on the homebrew you want, then click install. It will then start installing the homebrew onto your PS4. Source Instructions

    The Game Boy Advance Consolizer

A new modkit has been made by someone named Stephen who blogs about the projects he's involved with. One of his latest is the GBA Consolizer http://stephens-projects.com/projects/gbahdmi/ which makes it possible to play your GBA on your modern HD television with no latency or lag just as if playing on the handheld yourself. At this point you're probably thinking to yourself "hey jerk I connect my GBA to my GameCube with my 'Game Boy Player' adapter and play it on my TV everyday what makes this so special". The Game Boy Player does not hold a candle to this though if you read through the features and see how it's a digital output opposed to analog so stuff does not get screwed up. Also another useful addition to this mod is the addition of a SNES controller port. That way if you do not want the authenticate Game Boy experience with the screen being a fraction of an inch away from the player's eyes because the tin LCD is now replaced with a giant widescreen television you now have the luxury of using a controller with a decent length cord to get a better view. Here are some related videos: Source http://stephens-projects.com/projects/gbahdmi/ via http://retrorgb.com/gba-consolizer-an-hdmi-720p-gba-kit.html

Update At Bottom Of Article. I am sure most of you remember that Konami at one time was an awesome company, that released some of the worlds best games, then something happened and Konami seemed to turn evil, a highly anticipated sequel to the Silent Hill games got cancelled, Konami had the demo removed from the PS Store and you couldn't redownload it even if it was in your download list, then we found out that Konami were complete scumbags to their employees, we thought this is the lowest they could stoop? According to tweets from well known people in the official gaming scenes, Konami are having a silent patch pushed that disables the P.T demo if you have a playable version on your PS4, so if you are on the most recent firmware and can play P.T, it seems that Konami can send a silent patch to stop you having fun with the demo, here are some tweets and articles: Notice i have tagged the article as a rumour, the Twitter user "Mike Futter" has deleted some of his tweets, so this could all stem from some stupid troll on Reddit being tweeted by Wario64. There is one thing, notice the "lock", this type of lock happens when a game does not have access to the license, this happens on Jailbroken consoles a lot, the game/demo is locked when not in jailbreak mode. Opinions? This is one of the reasons we hack consoles, if all those great devs out there didn't find exploits and such for us to use, we would have no way of preserving or having ways to play preserved titles. [UPDATE] Well it seems that this was just one big troll, nobody has been able to replicate what was posted by this idiot on Reddit, this was either accomplished by editing the param.sfo on a hacked PS4 or someone had a little fun with PhotoShop, either way it is fake and was done to give someone a little pleasure. What i do find alarming, is that "Mike Futter" claims that a friend of his had the demo update, is this dude a liar? Even though this is 99% a fake troll, Konami are still assholes [UPDATE 2] Thanks to MrMario2011 providing me a link to an article, i can now post a quote directly from Konami regarding the demo: Source Source 2 If you aren't already subscribed to MrMario2011, you should do so here: https://www.youtube.com/user/MrMario2011 He makes some awesome gaming/hacking related videos.

A Reddit user by the name of morgue888 has posted an image and details about an SD Card mod he did on the PS2 Network Adaptor: This mod lets you use an SD card to load backups instead of using a HDD, here are the components he used: Materials/Hardware: Card Reader https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DGNYXQ0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Converter for Card Reader https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006B8C2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Card Reader Extension https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00879U4O8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 SD Card https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B013WXK4NY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Useful but not absolutely required if you have another method to format the SD cards: You can connect the card reader to your PC over USB but it reads it as a HDD for proper formatting. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DQJME7Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Source

The PS3 is thirteen years old this November and even though Sony have left it behind in terms of great releases, it is still getting loads of love and support from the Homebrew scene, with releases from many developers such as Habib, @Joonie, @esc0rtd3w, kozarovv, @DeViL303, bguerville and so many more, these awesome developers regularly give love to the PS3. The most recent release is from valued developer and Team Rebug member Joonie, who has released what he has called Hybrid Firmware or simply HFW, what this modified firmware does is bring back the ability to use PS3Xploit on the most recent PS3 firmware update 4.84, with an unknown amount of work, Joonie has managed to bring back the Webkit Exploit from 4.82, PS3Xploit Tools have also been updated for use on 4.84. Cuban developer Lapy who in the past few weeks has released El Pollo which is a Flappy Bird clone and Save The Scene a unique homebrew that sees you saving several members of the PlayStation and Nintendo scenes from bombs dropping on them, has released a brand new game. The game called El Pollo 2.0 is a cross between "Helicopter" and "Flappy Bird", the game is fun but if you suck like me, then it can be quite frustrating, which this gameplay video by me highlights: Here is a quote from the developer: Source/Download

Developer Lapy who ported the Flappy Bird clone a few weeks ago, has released a stunning looking homebrew for the PS4 called Save The Scene. The PS Vita scene is a wonderful scene, but it has some immature motherfuckers in it, now i am not the most mature asshole in the world, but i draw the line at certain things, such as not being biased against a developers releases, if it suck's i will say it sucks, if it's great i will praise it, regardless of what i think about it, regardless if i like the developer or think he or she is a piece of shit, i won't stop it being posted about, nor will i refuse to post about it, anyone who would refuse to post something because they don't like the application or the developer is an immature discriminating, insecure egotistical asshole. Now i don't think the PS Vita scene is that immature, is it?, it is!?, Really? get the fuck outa here with that bullshit... Thanks to the OneLua Team guys @gdljjrod and @DevDavisNunez, you now have a place to grab whatever homebrew that is released for the PS Vita regardless of who created it, that awesome place is: WikiVita Now it does not look as good as VitaDB, but the owner of VitaDB won't upload an application because of so called license violations or if he thinks the developer is a piece of shit, such developers as @silicaAndPina, it also does not have the huge amount of content that Brewology does, but the owner of Brewology does not want to work with other developers and help in the downloading of files to the PS Vita, WikiVita is what it is, a place to download all and any PS Vita homebrew, it will improve over time as it has really dedicated developers who are willing to fix things and are eager to work with people. So go follow the Twitter account: https://twitter.com/WikiVita You will see when anything gets uploaded and be able to download it to your computer or use the QR code to scan it and download it directly to your PS Vita. So thank you to the OneLua guys for showing your love for the scene and giving us a place that we known won't be biased.

    Release: BwE PS4 NOR Validator

What up gangsters, now its v1.3.5 But you should know this given my AUTOMATIC VERSION CHECKER! Version: 1.3.5 (30/1/19) Added CoreOS Reference Points (Additional CoreOS Per-Console Validation). File MD5: EFFC0962BDC304ABF059380B362CBD30 So it turns out there are actual static/dynamic fixed areas within the CoreOS - after which it becomes truly random. I am sure there is more I can find in the NOR. I think the next update will have better validation within the repetition spectrum.

The real meaning of the word "homebrew"

I just think if you own it, you should be able to do any damn thing you want with it, albeit offline. But I do get the whole distributing private Sony keys etc as being a bit much.

It has come to my attention that a large group of people are walking around with a wrong idea about what the word "homebrew" means. There seems to be a wide misconception that the word is exclusively related to hacking activities, and that it only applies to platforms that doesn't normally "allow" you to create your own software. This perception is completely wrong. Let me start out small and simple: When a company makes a game, it is called "a commercial game". When a consumer makes a game (thus in his sparetime as a hobby), then it is called "a homebrew game". The platform doesn't matter. The technique doesn't matter. The language doesn't matter. The only thing that determines that it is "homebrew", is the fact that it is made by an individual (or a small group of hobbyists) rather than a company, and that it was done at home in his sparetime. And that's it. Plain'n'simple. That's how you define a homebrew game. Nothing illegal about it whatsoever. I'm an old geezer. I grew up with the Amstrad CPC 8-bit computer in the 80s. This computer too had a lot of commercial titles that you could buy. And it also had a lot of homebrew games. People were encouraged to make these homebrew games back then - so a lot of people did! It was easy back in those days, because most of the 8-bit computers came with a built-in programming language called BASIC. As soon as you turned on the computer, it was ready to receive your BASIC instructions. We didn't have the Internet back then, so a lot of these homebrew games were instead spread via magazines. Pages full of BASIC lines that you would then sit and type in yourself. Ah yes, those were the days. The next generation of computers, such as the Amiga, didn't come with a built-in programming language. On these computers you had to load a programming language yourself if you wanted to code anything. But the result was still called a homebrew game. And then we have all the game consoles that doesn't give you any immediate way of loading a programming language onto the machine itself. So you naturally can't develop anything on those consoles. But that simply means you develop it on another platform. It's called cross platform development, and it's done on a lot of platforms. That's all. It is still a homebrew game - and there's still nothing illegal about it. But I understand where the confusion comes from here in the PSX communities. One of the reasons people are confused is probably because you need to jailbreak your PlayStation in order to run (native) homebrew on it. Jailbreaking your console isn't illegal though. But you probably think it is because the majority of people who jailbreaks their console, does it not to run homebrew games, but rather to run pirated software - and THAT is indeed illegal yes. Another cause of the confusion is probably emulators. If you code (or port) an emulator, then it also qualifies as homebrew. It is still you sitting at home coding some software - and it still isn't illegal. The illegal part in relation to developing an emulator, only comes if you include pirated copies of games and/or ROM files with it. THAT is what makes it illegal. But you're absolutely allowed to code and distribute the emulator itself, as long as your users have to supply the ROM files and games for themselves. (Supplying the ROM files and games themselves is also normally perfectly legal - as long as they own the original game(s) as well). It's easy to see how all of this may have confused you and lead you to believe that homebrew is all about (illegal) hacking. But now you at least know better. To summarize: Homebrew is no more illegal than a car: You can use a car to break the law if you absolutely want to - but no one will ever blame any aspect of the car for that.

I am sure you have read by now how the PlayStation Classic has been hacked and has been running games not officially designed for the system, at the start of the week it seemed the process to get your own personal PS1 games to run on the Classic would be difficult, but thanks to a script by justMaku, it is now possible to run your own or pirated PS1 games on the PlayStation Classic via a USB Thumb Drive. Before you read any further, note that this method can BRICK your PlayStation Classic. A user on Reddit suggests that you add this code to line 8 of the script to back up your original game database: cp /gaadata/databases/regional.db /media/games/original.db You can read how to install games here at the source: https://github.com/justMaku/gpghax You can also bypass the 25 game limit by doing this: (1) Copy out the sonyapp-copylink file to USB by adding this line to lolhack.sh: cp /usr/sony/bin/sonyapp-copylink /media/games (2) Boot up the PSC with the USB drive in it until it gets to the game selection screen, turn it off, put USB back in PC (3) Edit the COUNT_MAX number from 25 to 50 (or whatever) in sonyapp-copylink and save it. (4) Edit lolhack.sh script to REMOVE the line from step 1. (5) Edit the lolhack.sh script to run that script from the USB drive at /media/games/sonyapp-copylink AFTER the killall ui_menu but BEFORE it restarts ui_menu: kill the ui process killall ui_menu sleep 5s cd /data/AppData/sony/pcsx Call edited copy file so more than 25 games be used /media/games/sonyapp-copylink restart ui /usr/sony/bin/ui_menu --power-off-enable (6) Put USB drive back in PSC and boot it up and now more than 25 games can be used. Source And you can even add your own cheats by doing this: get a copy of the latest cheatpops.db from somewhere and save it on the USB drive in the games folder. Edit lolhack.sh to add the following line right under the line that copies the SQL DB: cp /media/games/cheatpops.db /data/AppData/sony/pcsx (this will copy the cheatpops.db to the pcsx directory and when pcsx runs it will detect it and the cheats can be turned ON/OFF in the emulator menu after starting a game) Source

Who doesn't know the original Nintendo Wii controllers? But who did know that these controllers were originally designed for the Nintendo GameCube? A Twitter user named @spmrp has found these rare relics on a Japanese auction website. The code name for the 'Wiimote', Nunchuck and Sensor Bar for the GameCube was Nintendo Revolution. A name that was later used for the prototype Nintendo Wii. The package was sold for around 581 Euros. The hardware needs to be connected with the console like regular GameCube controllers, but the buyer has not yet found a way for them to work. Source: Nintendo Everything Via: ConsoleHax

PS4 RiPKiT/Modding/Cheat Tool By RiPPERD This is now fully working! PLEASE SEE POST #2 FOR UPDATED INFO/REQUESTS Usages of this tool: The main reason for this tool is to make RipKits (smaller game files with things riped out) this is usually language files, videos etc. However another use is users that dont know how to modify games, add cheats/mod menus, files etc now can... so with the devs/modders posting their patch files made by this tool you will be able to just click a buttom and enjoy modded games... This could be Loads of ammo... Infinite Health... Debug menus etc via either modded eboot.bin file or modded game files. PLEASE NOTE: Compressing/Making patch file may take a long time depending on your specs! The app CANNOT crash so just wait! Decompressing/Applying patch will be a LOT faster than making the patches! Again the app CANNOT crash! What does this tool do? Its an AIO patcher to release a patch file instead of users downloading whole games again. Back in the PSP and PS3 days this is how RipKits were made... ive made it slightly different now due to windows 10 and other requirements that only work on older versions. Basic tutorial FOR DEVS (Devs are needed to make the patches) Download my app Place the game PKG file into the directory of this app and rename it to original.pkg make a copy of the game in same folder and rename it to ripped.pkg open up the modded pkg game file with other ps4 tools make any changes to the game (remove languages, add cheats etc) repack the ripped pkg file with your usual tools now run the tool with both files in same folder click MAKE PATCH wait... may take while on larger games you will now have a "patch.RiPPERD" file and a "ripped.gp4" file these are the files you share with others These files are now much smaller than previous versions FOR END USERS Download my app and the required "patch.RiPPERD" and "ripped.gp4" file for your game Place game PKG file, "patch.RiPPERD" and "ripped.gp4" into my app folder rename game pkg to "original.pkg" now run the tool with both files in same folder click APPLY PATCH wait... may take while on larger games now you will have a ripped pkg with the original file name pkg copy to usb/ps4 Enjoy! NOTES: files must be called the exact as i typed so... original.pkg ripped.pkg and patch.RiPPERD ALL CASE SENSITIVE! UPDATE INFORMATION V1.5 - MAJOR Update Code Cleanup Massive Rework to Patch File Size Changed GUI - Added Tutorial to About Button Made it Super n00b Friendly (A Monkey could do it now) This tool can also now be used to make Modded Games, Cheats, Texture Changes... A recently published or republished patent by Sony titled "Remastering by emulation" has managed to causes rumours and speculation that the PlayStation 5(PS5) will have Backward Compatibility, here is some information: I am not sure that this patent has anything to do with Backwards Compatibility in the traditional sense, where you stick a disc on a previous console in the new console and it plays, this seems to me to be something similar to how PS2 games are played on the PS4 at present, the game is packed with higher resolution textures and an emulator.(Check edit) I would love to see the PS5 able to play games from all the previous PlayStation's, however i do not think Sony would commit itself to such a task, instead they will just keep re-releasing old games with higher textures that can look decent on a 1080p+ TV as well as adding trophies, i really do not think we will ever see any future consoles from Sony having Backward Compatibility. I have added a poll, participate in it Here is the patent Thanks @zecoxao EDIT I have been corrected by developer @Zer0xFF on the line i have put a strike through above, this is what he said:
