GregoryRasputin GregoryRasputin 5,726 Posted February 16, 2018 GregoryRasputin Share Posted February 16, 2018 Recently the PS4 scene recieved a huge boost of life, thanks to a Kernel Exploit(KExploit) released by TheFlow. This release brought quite a lot to the scene, the ability for anyone between 5.05 and 6.72 to run game backups and homebrew, it also gave us the ability to backport games that were released between firmwares 5.05 and 6.72 to be played on firmware 5.05. This thread originally covered 4.04 and 5.05 firmwares, but will now cover 6.72 and 5.05. If you are on 5.05, do not update to 6.72 as that exploit is not as stable as 5.05 and with backporting now available for 5.05 users, it is pointless updating at the moment. Q I am on firmware between 5.06 and 6.70, what do I do to get homebrew? A You will need to update to firmware 6.72 which you can donwnload from here: https://darthsternie.net/ps4-firmwares The MD5 for the file is f3a31f64d894dc06040498cd7383bec2 You can check the MD5 of any 5.05 firmware you download, by downloading this software which does not require an install: http://www.winmd5.com Or use this online tool: http://onlinemd5.com Once you have the above firmware downloaded, rename it PS4UPDATE.PUP Grab a USB Thumb Drive, format it to Fat32, on the root of the drive, create a folder called PS4 and inside that folder create another folder called UPDATE, then put the firmware inside the UPDATE Folder, it should look like this Root>PS4>UPDATE>PS4UPDATE.PUP You will need to enter Safe Mode, here is a video on how you cann achieve that: 5.05 users you can update if you want, but I highly advise you to stay on 5.05, it is more stable and you can play games that require 6.72 on it. Q I am on firmware 7.00 or 7.01, what do I do? A Wait until a useable hack is released for firmware 7.02, do not update Q I am on firmware 7.50, what do I do? A Wait another two or three years. Now that we have got updating out of the way, lets focus on games and homebrew. 6.72 Users Q How do I run the exploit? A Visit one of these sites: https://cthugha.exploit.menu/#6.72 https://hakkuraifu.github.io/PS4xploit/#6.72 https://www.consolehax.com/PS4/6.72/SleirsGoevyV2/ You will need to run this each time you boot your PS4, as it is not permanent, with the link above you can cache the exploit so that it is stored in your PS4's webbrowser cache, which means you can run the exploit without an internet connection, this video shows how it is done: Q How do I run backups? A You need to dump your own games and build them as a PKG, you can check these tutorials that were created for 5.05 users, the method shoud still work for 6.72 users: Of course you can get games without backing them up yourself, but those methods are illegal and I will be providing no help with that. Q Apart from PS4 backups, can I play backups from other PlayStation consoles. A You can play PS1 and PS2 backups, not all games work, some work with glitches and audio/visual defects and other work just fine, you will need to source the PS1 and PS2 games yourself, then you will need to run a piece of software in order to convert them to run on the PS4. PS1 backups were only playable on 6.72 until the backport method was made available. For PS1 games For PS2 games There are compatbilty lists for both PS1 and PS2 games, please consider contributing to it when you test games: PS1 https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps4/PS1_Classics_Emulator_Compatibility_List PS2 https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps4/PS2_Classics_Emulator_Compatibility_List 5.05 Users Obviously you guys have been on this firmware for a LONG time so should know the way to do things already, so you can ignore the first four Q&A and go straight to backporting, this first four are for people new to the scene who are somehow lucky enough to be able to get a PS4 on firmware 5.05 or below. Q My PS4 is on a firmware below 5.05, how do i update to the correct firmware? A You will need to download firmware 5.05 from here: https://darthsternie.net/ps4-firmwares You can check the MD5 of any 5.05 firmware you download, by downloading this software which does not require an install: http://www.winmd5.com Or use this online tool: http://onlinemd5.com The MD5 for firmware 5.05 is F86D4F9D2C049547BD61F942151FFB55 Once you have the above firmware downloaded, rename it PS4UPDATE.PUP Grab a USB Thumb Drive, format it to Fat32, on the root of the drive, create a folder called PS4 and inside that folder create another folder called UPDATE, then put the firmware inside the UPDATE Folder, it should look like this Root>PS4>UPDATE>PS4UPDATE.PUP (Check video in 6.72 section on how to enter safe mode) Q Once i have 5.05 installed and running, how do i prevent myself from accidentally updating? A This video will help you: Q How do I run the exploit? A You will need to visit a site that host's the exploit, such as this one: https://playstationdev.wiki/x/index.html You will need to run this each time you boot your PS4, as it is not permanent, with the link above you can cache the exploit so that it is stored in your PS4's webbrowser cache, which means you can run the exploit without an internet connection, this video shows how it is done: Q How do i run backups? A You will need to dump your game and build it as a PKG, you can find out how by visiting this tutorial by @ConsoleHax You can of course find PKG's in certain naughty places, but i am not going to help you with that, because piracy isn't great and also because i don't want to be responsible for Sony crying and getting butt hurt. Q Some games require firmware past 5.05, how do I play them whilst remaing on 5.05? A Prior to the release of 6.72, many games that were released past 5.05 were not able to be played on that firmware, but thanks to a tutorial released by zecoxao and scripts released by flatz, people were able to start backporting games and several apps were released to help with backporting, you can choose which application you want to use here: Q I am still getting stuck with backporting and I have heard there is a problem with EA games, is there a guide that will help me? A This awesome tutorial my MODDED_WARFARE should help with backporting and sorting EA games: Q How do I backport PS1 games? A Use this app, it is quite simple to use: Just be sure to select the backport option. Here is a comaptibility list which you can add to when you try games for yourself: https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps4/PS1_Classics_Emulator_Compatibility_List Check above in the 6.72 section on how to play PS2 games. If there is anything else that needs to be added please le me know, so I can make this Q&A even better. All Users Q Where can I find homebrew apps and games? A PlayStationHaX GitHub PSX-Place Q I am stuck at a game, are there any cheats I can use A You can use PS4 Trainer, it has cheats for most of the popular games: 8 2 Tip https://onelinkbio.com/playstationhaxhttps://www.play-asia.com/?tagid=1870177

My personal opinion is that you should buy a console with 5.05, people are only speculating that 5.55 will be released when 6.0 is released. https://onelinkbio.com/playstationhaxhttps://www.play-asia.com/?tagid=1870177

azoreseuropa 1
Add to your FAQ; For macOS users.. how to use md5 for firmware. All you have to do is: If you don't know where terminal is.. Click Launchpad *Rocket icon* then click Other and inside it said Terminal then click it. Go to Terminal>type MD5 and press spacebar then drag and drop firmware.pup onto terminal and press Return and you got MD5 for the file.
