Sony has released a new firmware update today (5.05). It is necessary to install the update if you want to use the online functionalities of your console. The changelog (as usual) states: 'This system software update improves system performance'. The update is now live and has the normal size of 360MB. In case you already installed a firmware higher then 4.05 on your console, I recommend you to wait before updating. The lower the firmware version the more likely exploits gets found and shared.

Earlier this week the company asked PlayStation Network users to sign up for another beta test. This update (5.50) will probably be a bit more interesting, although it is not yet know which features/changes it will introduce.
