Apparently, the PS4 is outpacing it's sell rate so far, so it could be the new best selling console in the future. The PS2 was a great system (though a bit on the weak side and a nightmare of an architecture).

Sorry to post this it being the PS2 birthday and all, but the Wii sold more. According to the wiki, as of March 31, 2015, the Wii has sold 101.52 million consoles worldwide.

I have two PS2's and two Wii's, so I'm about even.

 

edit - my bad, I was just looking at the ps2 wiki and it says over 150 million sold worldwide, that's a lot of consoles.

I don't think any of the current consoles will out sell their predecessor.

i think there is alwaysthat possiblility of out selling an older brother.afterall, as the population increases, the chances of somebody else buying it increases.

i know more people now that have a ps4 than i did back then of people owning a ps2.
